Finance, let’s dance: the video

You may remember reading about our rebranding and new tagline back in July. To liven up the message, we decided to also capture our manifesto on video. In the embedded video above you can see Marko the actor recounting our mission and view of the current state of the financial industry while taking you on a stroll around the beautiful Helsinki on a sunny autumn morning. Fun fact: Marko’s actually a singer at the Finnish national opera, which explains the impressive bass in his voice.

The message delivered by Marko crystallises what we’re doing to the financial industry and where we’re coming from. It all stems from the fact that finance is a rigid industry that could really use a good disrupting. Various structures of the financial industry such as bank accounts, credit cards, online payments and investing have a profound effect on our lives, yet the system is heavy and expensive. It is painful to see innovative growth businesses being throttled by rigid access to funding and investors being denied exciting investment opportunities, just because an old system has high expenses. This is what we’ve set out to change.

So, what about the video execution?

The planning was straightforward. We had a clear vision on the video and together with the professional filming crew from PicPilots, we easily got that transformed into a working script.

For the first half of the video, we needed an empty street in downtown Helsinki, preferably surrounded by well-known landmarks such as the white Helsinki Cathedral. Since our head-quarters are in Helsinki, we wanted it to show – we are proud of our Nordic roots. However, finding an empty street in a city center is not the easiest of tasks, especially when shooting in September when the sun doesn’t rise before 7. We spent some freezing hours filming and re-filming the first part. Our amazing actor Marko was a true warrior performing without a jacket, it was around 0 degrees during this time.

When the sun got a bit higher up, the filming really started to get fun. Together with the PicPilots team we cruised around Helsinki with two drones capturing the Finnish capital from above. The last part of the video was filmed in the commercial center of Helsinki after the worst morning rush hour had passed.

See the door in the last shot of the video? That is actually the entrance to our new office in Helsinki. We hope to see you passing through that door soon, coming to meet us for a coffee, chat or meeting!

One last thank you goes out to Amanda from Iksplein.com who made the Invesdor animation at the end of the video. We will certainly use our dancing Invesdor logo in several projects in the future.
